HVBB were founded in 2011 by our musical director Steve Lees, this began by drawing together some talented and long-serving musicians, mainly from Marching Band and Drum Corps backgrounds in the Essex area. The mix of music and the subtle change of style and approach to playing, puts us into the "big band" genre.
Our musical director, Steve Lees has been involved in music for over 40 years, playing, writing & conducting various bands and today his main focus is on High Voltage Performing Arts.
High Voltage Big Band has set out to provide a platform for people to come along and enjoy their music in a friendly community setting. We give you the opportunity to learn at your own pace. Why not come along a give it try.
With our use of Mellophones and Tubas instead of Saxophones, our instrumentation is unique to other big bands. This makes our sound quite different to a standard big band. With our added visuals and lighting show, it becomes apparent that there is a discernible difference.

We all love listening to you, but for me your flexibilty was invaluable, playing when you were needed or not playing if we were running over was such a reassurance because it made the afternoon run smoothly.

No, the band is completely self-contained with it's own PA, staging and lighting
systems.
We can even provide
suitable venue decor to help set the mood depending on the package you require.
Absolutely! With loud portable brass instruments our Band is perfect for outdoor entertainment.
The bands Standard attire is black trousers and shirts or we can dress according to your selected package.
The band will play music based on your chosen package, or you can choose the music from our extensive repertoire to suit any occasion.
Yes, we are happy to take requests ahead of the event with enough notice to give us time to learn the song.
Absolutely, we would encouraged the guests to get up and dance and sing along.
